Dear Birthparents,
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about our family. We are John, Jackie, and Nathan. Before we share a few things about ourselves, we want you to know that we have been praying for you. We believe that God is going to guide you as you make plans for your child.
We have been married for 9 years. We met on a blind date in Fort Worth, Texas and soon fell in love. We currently live in Sulphur, Louisiana. Sulphur is 2 hours northeast of Houston, Texas. John, 35 years old, serves as the Youth Minister at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles. He has a passion for students to know the love of Jesus Christ. John enjoys sports, reading, fishing, and being a Dad. Jackie is also 35 years old. She recently graduated from nursing school and works part time as an RN at a local hospital. We plan to find a loving Christian home care provider to watch the baby two days a week in our home. Jackie enjoys scrapbooking and is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to make a book for the new baby.
In October 2001, God blessed us with our son, Nathan. We had been trying to conceive a child for 3 ½ years. Even though we had been through many tests and infertility treatments, the doctors were not able to find a cause for our infertility. Because of this, we believe that God’s plan for us was to become parents through adoption. Nathan is now 5 years old. His birthmother, Amy, lives in the Dallas area. She and her family are a special part of our family. We are committed to open adoption and have seen the benefits for Nathan. He is able to know first hand that Amy loves him.
Watching Nathan grow up has been one of our greatest joys. Nathan enjoys playing soccer and T-Ball for the local YMCA. He also loves to swim, play at the park, and go to the library. We are committed to raising him in a Christian home. His favorite part of going to church is singing in the Preschool Choir. We love watching him learn and grow in the Lord.
Our life together is such a blessing. We live in a quiet neighborhood with a swimming pool and a park nearby. We love sporting events, traveling, and just spending time at home together. As often as possible, we see our extended families. Jackie’s family lives in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, so we often make trips to Texas. We were both raised by wonderful parents in an atmosphere of unconditional love. We want to pass that on to our children.
In closing, we want you to know that we have a lot of love to give you and your child. We are choosing open adoption because we know that it is the best for everyone involved, and we truly believe that this is part of God’s purpose and plan for our lives. We plan to be open with the new baby regarding his or her adoption and welcome an open relationship with you including phone calls, letters, and visits. We look forward to talking with you and your family. Please contact Buckner at 1-800-441-2670 if you are interested in finding out more about our family. Whatever future you decide for your child, remember that “He who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)
