(DALLAS, Texas) — Buckner will celebrate family, culture and adoptions through its Heritage Day celebration from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 2 at 5200 S. Buckner Blvd, Dallas Texas.
The event will bring together Buckner and non-Buckner families who have adopted or are looking to adopt locally and internationally. They will participate in making crafts, eating traditional foods, listening to music and playing games.
"The idea is to have the whole event geared towards family," said Rachel Daugherty, community and family program coordinator. "We want it to be a learning opportunity that brings people together. It will also help Buckner families who have gone through the adoption process to connect with each other."
Activities will include a Chinese dragon dance and tortilla-making classes. Buckner staff is working to put together murals for China, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Russia and the United States.
Susan Gray, a contemporary Christian singer from Houston, will lead worship at the event. Between 150 and 200 families are expected to attend, including those who have not adopted through Buckner.
Tickets are $10 per adult, $8 per child. For more information, contact Sharon Hedrick at 1-866-236-7823 or write to shedrick@buckner.org.
